Make it a May to remember at Children’s Museum of Atlanta! From Jedi Training to Mother’s Day and Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the fun doesn’t stop for little ones this month. The Museum invites families to immerse in STEM learning at the limited-time traveling exhibit, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™, debuting on May 22! May Special Programming Star Wars Day Tuesday, May 4 May the "fourth" be with you! All Jedis, Stormtroopers, Droids and defenders of the galaxy are called to celebrate Star Wars Day at Children's Museum of Atlanta. Kids will make out-of-this-galaxy crafts and learn how to become a Jedi.   CMA On Stage Storytime: Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Willems + Jedi Training Session A: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Creativity Cafe Children will learn to build their own lightsaber. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m.   Mother’s Day Sunday, May 9 Kids will celebrate all the amazing moms, grandmas, aunts and other mother figures in their lives. Little ones can enjoy a reading of Irene Smalls' Jonathan and His Mommy and build their own picture frames.   CMA On Stage Storytime: Jonathan and His Mommy by Irene Smalls Session A: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Creativity Café Children will make heartfelt picture frames for Mother's Day. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m.   Eid al-Fitr Sunday, May 16 The Museum will celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic Festival of Fast-Breaking that takes place the day after the month of Ramadan fasting. Little artists will create new moon-themed crafts and learn about the holiday through a commemorative storytime on Stage.   CMA On Stage  Storytime: It's Ramadan, Curious George by Hena Khan Session A: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Creativity Café Children will make a new moon-themed craft for Eid al-Fitr. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m.   Summer Bash Saturday, May 29 – Sunday, May 30 Kids are called to kick off summer at Children's Museum of Atlanta! Children can enjoy two days of dance parties, messy science, puffy paint and more.   CMA On Stage  Summer Bash Dance Party + Summer Festival Games Session A: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Science Bar Little ones will make their own take-home sidewalk chalk and experiment with stained glass science.  Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. Creativity Café Children will paint puffy paint ice cream cones and draw chalk sunsets. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m.   An all-new feature exhibit…   Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™ Saturday, May 22 – Tuesday, September 7 Step into the Lab and be inspired by the animated series and the brilliant work of Thomas Edison! Immersing little ones in the wonders of science, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™ offers captivating, hands-on experiences that introduce kids to the world of STEM, engages them in the scientific process and highlights some of the most inspiring, renowned scientists and innovators alongside their groundbreaking discoveries.   Continuing in May…   The Pigeon Comes to Atlanta! A Mo Willems Exhibit Through Sunday, May 9 Guests are invited to experience the world of beloved children’s book author Mo Willems and his whimsical characters, including the best friend duo Elephant Gerald and Piggie, devoted companion Knuffle Bunny and the city bird, The Pigeon, best known for his shenanigans in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! On Stage, kids will enjoy some of Willems’ famous Elephant & Piggie books. Children can continue their learning adventure at the Science Bar and Creativity Café, where they will dive into animal science and create arts and crafts inspired by Willems.   Sensory Friendly Sessions Sunday, May 2 Families with children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing disorders are encouraged to join the Museum’s 2021 Sensory Friendly Sessions! On select Sundays during Session A, kids can enjoy a playful, hands-on experience with a sensory modified setting, limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments to ensure safety and comfort. Stage programming will not be available during Sensory Friendly Sessions. Session A: 9:30 a.m.   Children’s Museum of Atlanta continues to make the health and wellness of its visitors its top priority, providing elevated health precautions to protect guests throughout their visit.
