Participate in a Brain Imaging Study You may be eligible if you: are a girl between 14-18 years oldare right handeddo not have permanent braces, retainers, or any other metal in your bodyhave not taken any hormonal contraceptives over the past 3 months Participation involves: Coming to McLean Hospital for one initial assessment visit and two study visits spaced 12 months apart.The initial assessment will last around 1½ hours and you will answer some questions about your menstrual cycle.Each study visit will last around 2½ hours and you will: 1) answer some questionnaires about your pain and emotions; 2) complete a brain imaging session; 3) provide saliva samples; and 4) participate in a laboratory session during which you will complete four safe lab stress tasks involving pressure applied to your thumbnail, arms, shoulders, and lower abdomen, a cold water task, and one video-watching task. These tasks are quick and you may stop at any time.You will be asked to complete an online questionnaire once a month for 24 months starting after your first study visit. This questionnaire will take around 5 minutes per month and will be done online. You will receive $25 for the initial assessment visit and $125 for each study visit. Your parent will receive $25 for the initial assessment visit and $10 for each of the two study visits to compensate for travel expenses. You will also receive $10 per month for completing the online questionnaires. You will receive an extra $35 at the end of the study if you complete at least 8 of the last 11 monthly questionnaires.
