I’m a versatile guitarist/bassist and singer/rapper and a songwriter/composer/producer/programmer. I’m 34. I also do my own mixing and mastering. As a guitarist, I’m most influenced by guitarists like Trey Anastasio and Jerry Garcia, as well as jazz and jazz-rock guitarists, but am versatile and influenced by all kinds of music. On bass, my biggest influences when learning to play were people like Jaco and Mingus, and I’m influenced by Phil Lesh and Mike Gordon. Pino Palladino is one of my favorite bassists. I understand how to be minimal and not overplay, but can also do more when it is appropriate. Production-wise my biggest influences are people like J-Dilla, Madlib, Alchemist, DJ Premier, Nottz, Pete Rock, RZA, Ninth Wonder, Neptunes, and other hip-hop producers, but I am also versed in realistic drum programming for rock and pop projects, keyboard programming, and producing in whatever genre from electronic to R&B to pop to rock and beyond. Mixing and sound-design are huge to me when it comes to my production and what I want to hear in a recorded product. Texture is crucial. I have a couple projects with a really good female singer that I happen to be married to. She can effectively sing lead on just about anything. Equipment: full electric guitar rig with tube amp/effects setup, electric and acoustic guitars and a bass, PA, mics, recording equipment, DAWs and lots of plugins. I would like to meet musicians to play with for fun and enrichment and see where it goes. I'm also interested in joining existing projects and paid session/production/live work, and/or doing work for TV/movies. I can play guitar or bass and offer vocals for sessions or live gigs, and contribute production and programming on projects. I'd also like to work with people in the hip-hop arena; either guesting on each other’s stuff rap-wise, doing co-production, or both. I'm also looking to meet DJs to add cuts and scratches to songs and potentially perform live with. I can send some links to music if anyone would like to hear some of what I’ve done.
