Ironworker Journeyman/Journeywoman POSITIONING TASKS INCLUDE: Install beams, columns, and other iron or steel construction materials. Cut, place and screw steel bars to reinforce concrete. Erect steel frames. Drive the crane to move structural steel, rebar, and other materials on and around the construction site. Connect the steel columns, beams and joists. Unload and stack steel. Connect the cables to the steel and then to the crane. Raise the steel in place on the frame. Align the holes in the steel with the holes in the frame. Screw or weld the part in place. Place the spacers under the rebar to lift the bars off the deck. Cut bars with metal shears and torches. Install stairs, handrails, or curtain walls. Must be okay with heights. Our job site locations vary: as far north as Shelby Township and as far south as Taylor, MI. From west to Brighton and east to Saint Clair Shores, MI. Candidates applying must be local or within a reasonable travel distance. Minimum age of 18 years. Experience in Construction Welding, Driver's License is Optional, Heavy Equipment Operation, Benefits Relocation Assistance Flexible hours. Our company is looking for workers with existing commercial construction experience to join our iron work teams on various existing and future construction jobs. *Please note this is not residential, automotive or road construction.* High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent as specified by the local training committee. Good physical condition - The materials used for ironworking are heavy and bulky so above average physical strength is necessary. Agility and a good sense of balance are also required. Drug and alcohol free. Must meet requirements as set out in applicable citizenship laws.
