Job Description Connect Staffing is looking to hire a Shipping & Receiving Quality Inspector for a food manufacturing company in Sylmar, CA! Shift: M-F 8:00am to 4:30pm Job Description: Reports directly to the Quality Manager. The shipping and receiving quality inspector is responsible for maintaining quality standards by approving incoming materials, out-going shipments of finished products and ensuring all related tasks are within regulatory and food safety requirements. Duties and Responsibilities: • Maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives including the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs for incoming, in-process and finished goods. • Physically inspect/sample incoming materials by confirming all required documentation and labeling align with specifications and quality standards. • Interface with shipping/receiving, procurement, sales, operations, and quality to resolve quality problems relative to receipt and distribution of material. • Document quality problems or defects initiate Non-Conforming Material Report. • Assist in taking corrective action implementing a solution to eliminate recurrence of the problem. • Confirms product is properly packaged and shipped per customer specifications. Serves as final in-plant link for finished product to customer. • Monitor and follow through with disposition of damaged, expired and returned product. • Work with Procurement team to request missing documentation, follow up on disposition of product with supplier input. • Follow Holds procedure and ensure segregation of any rejected items to remove from workflow and prevent shipment. Follow notification and disposition process to Procurement/Sales/Quality teams. (including Regulatory Holds e.g FDA ) • Conduct daily walkthroughs of warehouse area to report non-conforming material and conditions (spills, allergen cross contamination, damaged product etc.. ) • Provide feedback of all findings to Quality Manager and related departments. • Participate in training activities to develop,maintain and improve job skills. • Provide support in establishing and implementing quality improvements to current system. • Perform inspection of incoming/outgoing trailers, carriers, etc. to ensure they align with food safety Federal, state, local and 3rd party certification regulations. • Actively organize and review process for continuous improvement. • Review expired/ close to expiring, to establish quality and potential shelf-life extension, while maintaining alignment with product specifications. • Assist with evaluation of product in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize cost. • Ensures employees are following all Food Safety practices. • Assist with KPI’s tracking and reporting on quality incidents and to measure performance improvements. • The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive. Qualifications: • Self-motivated with proven leadership skills. • Have exceptional attention to detail. • Proficient in Microsoft Office. • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. • Prior experience in food environment a plus. • Bilingual - English/Spanish beneficial. • Must be able to work in a team environment • Ability to work in a diverse team environment • Ability to work in fast-paced, effectively under pressure, and deadline-oriented environment. • Flexible availability. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
