Procambarus Clarkii - Louisiana Mudbug

Description
The Louisiana Mudbug is an incredible creature. Remarkably prolific, they've invaded waterways throughout the world, pushing native crawfish species out of their established territories and destroying habitats by burrowing and eating voraciously. Able to survive on land so long as their gills remain damp, they can travel significant distance on their own to seek out new waters and ruin those too. They're also delicious. This one would have been delicious too, but she displayed so much gumption in repeatedly escaping the colander while we prepared her buttery old bay demise that we tossed her in a bowl of water and spared her while we cooked her forty some-odd brethren. Being a human is weird sometimes. I already own a male of the same species, and he's been one of the most fun, easiest pets to care for that I've ever had. I am not even going to try keeping this lady, because I have nine fish tanks. Nine is quirky, but ten is A Problem. One can be purchased for about $10usd at a local pet store. Alternately, they've been on sale for $6.99/lb at the Asian supermarket this week. This one will require a $2 rehoming fee, and proof of a prepared and competent crayfish owner. This brings us to you, dear reader. Should you want to take this crayfish home, you must have: 1. An understanding of basic aquarium husbandry. 2. A 10 gallon aquarium (minimum) with a filter. 3. A SECURE LID. THESE THINGS ESCAPE AND WANDER. You'll think that sounds funny and unlikely until it happens to you. Again. 4. Hiding places in the aquarium. Can be pvc pipe, can be more aesthetically pleasing. The crayfish doesn't care. 5. A willingness and ability to feed high quality sinking food, along with blanched vegetables. (Mine eats fluval plecostomus food and kale, mostly. If you want this crayfish to live in a community aquarium, accept that fish will disappear and live plants will be decimated. Send me a convincing enough email and I'll waive the adoption fee. Until we find The One, Ms. Mudbug can hang with me as long as she wants.
