Lucas is a 50 pound 1 year old lab mix. We adopted him from the shelter in February with every attention of being his forever home. We have two younger kids and he’s being a little rough with them. He doesn’t understand how “big” he is and will knock, trample and step on our 1 year old. He tends to nip when he plays, sometimes harder then others. So I think he would be better in a older kid home or just adults. He likes to chew on the kids toys, but does better when he has options for his own toys. He’s gotten better at walking on leash since introducing the gentle lead collar. He still needs training. We are unsure how he is with other dogs. He’s been the only animal in the home and hasn’t been around other animals. While walking he gets super excited and wants to get to them right away. If you have a dog and want to introduce them and they like each other I’m sure Lucas would be happy to have a dog friend. He seems like he wants to play when he sees other dogs. I know that may all sound bad, but Lucas is super affectionate, especially towards my husband. I swear he thinks he’s a lap dog. He will sit/lay on you waiting to be pat and loved on. He loves to give you kisses, and gets super excited when you tell him “he’s a good boy”. He really does want all the attention. He doesn’t mind car rides. He loves his toys, especially balls. If you had a fenced in yard he would be in heaven as he likes being outside. My husband and I are really sad as he really is a good dog, he just doesn’t care for our two girls. He’s fully house trained. Fixed, up to date on all shots. If you have any questions just ask. I really want Lucas to find his forever home. I don’t want him to go back to the shelter!
