Educating teenagers on dating violence and how to prevent, resist, and defend against it. Limited capacity. Please sign up early! MAY is ASIAN AMERICAN & PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE MONTH.To support our Asian American and Pacific Islander community, Dauntlez is offering this workshop to Asians and Pacific Islanders for $20 per teen. Regular discounted price is $25 per teen. Capacity is limited so please sign up early. and sign up with a friend with who you will be comfortable practicing the techniques. Dauntlez is a 501(c) non profit organization whose vision is to transform communities by empowering individuals specially women and teens to prevent, resist, and/or defend against different forms of personal violence. We do this through workshops and classes to educate the public on the mental and physical strategies for prevention and defense. Teen dating abuse is a public health crisis and according to the 2013 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey 1 in 3 high school students experience either physical or sexual violence, or both, by someone they are dating or going out with. This workshop is a consolidated and combined curriculum from: CDC Dating Matters ProgramBreak the Cycle Org programAmerican Women's Self-Defense Association programThe workshop will cover the following topics: Healthy relationships and boundariesRed flags of an abusive relationshipFactors that contribute to abusePhysical self-defense techniques to defend against violenceThe workshop is open to teens 13 to 18 years old. The workshop is on Sunday, May 16, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm for a total of 5 hours. REGISTRATION is REQUIRED and PARENTS must register their teens to sign the waiver forms. A consent form duly signed by the parent/guardian prior to the beginning of class is needed. Due to the current COVID pandemic, we will be following CDC-approved guidelines for CDC including checking of body temperature before each class, COVID screening questions, and participants 6 feet from each other.
