MJA is currently supporting the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in conducting door-to-door canvassing on NYCHA households that did not respond to the required Annual Notice on Lead Paint and Window Guards. To support this effort, MJA seeks to immediately contract with bilingual individuals (Spanish, Chinese or Russian, and English) who will provide temporary support to our team and boost our outreach efforts. This position is anticipated to be an on-the-ground Outreach Specialist, responsible for in-person site visits to NYCHA units. Candidates will report to the MJA and NYCHA Outreach team.
Responsibilities:
MJA is seeking an outreach specialist for a temporary contract out of our New York City office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Conducting door-to-door outreach services at NYCHA units, using a data-gathering app (device to be provided)
Perform daily data entry tasks and maintain a log that documents when and which units were canvassed
Participate in a paid onboarding session during their first contracted week.
Contractors will be required to use a cellular phone with access to data to log information gathered on the unit’s survey through a digital form.
Diligently document hours worked, and units visited
Requirements:
Fluency in English, Spanish Russian, or Chinese (strongly preferred)
Proficiency in filling out digital forms
Must be able to work 40 hours/week on the ground at NYCHA developments
Must be at least 18 years old and able to conduct site visits for an 8-hour duration
Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong project management and organization skills
Experience working in similar areas and/or equivalent training in school, and background within related fields
Willingness to work outside in all types of weather conditions
Be comfortable working in-person, on the ground in NYCHA communities
