HONEY I SHRUNK KIDS (35MM) & ENCHANTED (35MM) @ The Million Dollar Theater SECRET MOVIE CLUB presents MILLION DOLLAR MATINEES! Monday, May 31, 2021 SPECIAL FAMILY MEMORIAL DAY EDITION! LOCATION: The Million Dollar Theater Movie Palace, 307 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90013 *Please note audience members can park at the Grand Central Market Parking Garage (corner of 3rd & S. Hill Street) and purchase a $6 all day parking passes via our ADD-ONS. We will hand you your parking pass at the screening. **We will open doors 1 HOUR before each screening time so audience can have plenty of time to enter, maintain 6 feet of distance, pick up or buy concessions/drink, and get their seats. We will have staff who will help guide and direct audience to their seats. Audience staying for both features will be given RESERVED SIGNS to save their seats for the next screening. 11am HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS (1989, dir by Joe Johnston, Disney, 101mns, 35MM) 1:45pm ENCHANTED (2007, dir by Kevin Lima, Disney, 107mns, 35MM) IMPORTANT NOTES: **WE ARE OBSERVING ALL COVID HEALTH PROTOCOLS ACCORDING TO THE COUNTY OF LA DEPT OF PUBLIC HEALTH (AS DIRECTED 4/17/21). THIS INCLUDES KEEPING OUR CAPACITY TO A TOTAL OF 200 GUESTS PER SCREENING (10% MAX CAPACITY), 6-12FT DISTANCING, ENFORCED MASK WEARING, ETC. ***ALL GUESTS WILL BE TAKEN THROUGH PROTOCOLS PRIOR TO ENTERING THEATER SO EVERYONE CAN HAVE A FUN AND SAFE TIME. ****Because we are able to maintain 6ft-12ft of distancing between all households due to the movie palace size of the theater (2000 seats but we’re only using 200 seats), Grand Central Market (next door) is allowing all audience to purchase food & drink (including alcoholic beverages) and bring them into the theater. So please feel free before your screening or at intermission to head over to GCM to get food/beverage to bring back into theater. HOW TO: 1)PLEASE PURCHASE ALL TICKETS FOR FOLKS IN YOUR “HOUSEHOLD” AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL HELP US KNOW HOW TO LAY OUT THAT DAY’S SEATING PLAN. So for example, if you are attending in a group of 3 people all of whom will be sitting together, please purchase ALL 3 TICKETS at the same time. For the time being, we are capping the maximum “household” number to 4 tickets/4 people who can sit next to each other. 2)PLEASE BRING AND BE READY TO WEAR A PROPER MASK AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE THEATER. While you will be able to order, eat, and drink concessions in your reserved seating area (always 6-12 ft apart from other households), you will be required to wear your mask at all other times. 3)PRE-ORDER ANY CONCESSIONS OR MOVIE MERCHANDISE you would like from the additional Add-Ons. You can pick up all concessions & merchandise at our tables in our lobby prior to the screening. We will be able to sell concessions & merchandise at the theater. We are so excited to announce we’ve scored 35mm prints of two of Disney’s most beloved recent live action family films. First up, we screen 1980’s live action Disney classic HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS starring the always hilarious Rick Moranis as scientist father inventor Wayne Szalinski. When Wayne’s shrinking machine invention surprises everyone and actually works, he accidentally shrinks his children and the children of his neighbors. While Wayne tries to find a way to get them back to regular size, the Kids go on an adventure in a world where everyday things in the backyard become huge dangers. HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS helped to begin the return by Disney (capped that same year with The Little Mermaid) to the glory of its Walt Disney lead days of the 1950’s and 1960’s where almost every animated movie and live action movie became a family classic. Next, we screen the surprise 2007 Disney hit ENCHANTED. Cleverly starting with all the tropes we’ve come to associate with Disney-an animated movie Princess with animal sidekick friends about to get married to a Prince before an evil Queen/Witch intervenes, ENCHANTED throws Giselle (played with wonderful sincerity by Amy Adams) into modern day live action New York. When Prince Edward (James Marsden) follows to rescue her and the evil Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) isn’t far behind, Giselle suddenly finds herself torn between two worlds as she finds herself starting to fall in love with New York lawyer Robert (everyone’s favorite heartthrob, Patrick Dempsey). Enchanted both satirizes and stays true to those Disney ideals-a plucky spirit, musical numbers, romance, good heartedness-for which countless Disney classic animated movies are known. This is that rare chance to catch two Disney movies on 35MM in a movie palace! So bring the whole family and have a wonderful Memorial Day! Please request a refund through Eventbrite and we will process ASAP. After that, no refunds. Sorry. WHY ARE THE TICKET PRICES HIGHER THAN NORMAL? In order for us to re-open, maintain health protocols (which includes operating at only 50% capacity), and screen movies on 35MM, we need to temporarily raise our ticket prices. We apologize. However, if you could look at this as partially helping Secret Movie Club re-open indoor theaters and 35MM film screening, we would be eternally grateful. As we can increase capacity, we will IMMEDIATELY LOWER ticket prices. If you could look at this as all of us being in this together, we WILL remember your kindness. HELPFUL MILLION DOLLAR THEATER MOVIE PALACE PARKING TIPS: We recommend you go to ADD ONS and pre-order an all day $6 Grand Central Parking Lot Pass. The Grand Central Parking Lot is at the corner of 3rd Street and Hill Street just 1 block from the Million Dollar Theater entrance on 3rd & Broadway. HOW WILL OUR STAFF MAKE SURE THE THEATER IS AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE: We will have staff in the theater (on both the ground and balcony levels) at all times who make sure everyone is wearing masks and obeying protocols. We will have signage at entrance, markings at concessions, restrooms, etc so folks keep 6 ft distance at all times. Anyone not observing safe protocols will kindly be asked to leave.
