Historic Vehicle Show in downtown Springfield, Illinois The 71st Illinois Secretary of State Vehicle Show & Swap Meet will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, at the State Capitol Complex at the corner of Second St. and Monroe St. in downtown Springfield. First organized in 1949 as an Antique Auto Meet, today the show features not only some of the finest antique and classic vehicles in Illinois, but also sports cars, motorcycles, trucks and tractors. This time-honored event is held rain or shine. Schedule 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.: All participants must be through the show gate and parked even if pre-registered. Please bring the parking number to the registration table at the Illinois State Library. 10 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.: Participants prepare for judging. 11:00 a.m.: Judges meeting at Illinois State Library. Noon: Judging commences. 3:00 p.m.: Awards Ceremony – First-, second- and third- place winners will receive awards in at least 60 classes. An Illinois State Champion award is given to the vehicle judged best at the show by the Vehicle Show Advisory Committee. This year's show honors Jeeps with one special Marque Award. The Marque Award represents a different automobile manufacturer each year as chosen by the Vehicle Show Advisory Committee. Spectators: Free Contestants: $10.00 (please officially register for event by filling out a form at the website listed below) Swappers: Free Booth Space on Capitol Avenue Limited, collectable special event license plates are available for $23/set (includes shipping and handling). Out-of-state plate collectors welcome to purchase (but will receive expired plates after the show). Plates go on automobiles, trucks or antique cars from July 14 - September 11, 2021.
