Description
Bell Joy Ride Baker Creek - Charlotte Mahan Remembrance Ride Sunday, May 23rd, 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM It's been six months since our last Joy Ride, so it's time to bring it back to where we left off - Baker Creek. If you are new to mountain biking or skilled rider, this ride will have a group for you! Please wear a mask when congregating before or after the ride, but no mask is required during the ride. This event is free, but register by May 20th. This helps us ensure we have enough volunteers and supplies. Before the ride, we will take a moment to remember Charlotte Mahan. Charlotte loved the Bell Joy Rides and those who knew her loved her. For those who don't know Charlotte, you can read more about her here. We will not have demo bikes available the day of the event but Harper's Bike Shop has a couple you can reserve in advance. Please call them to make arrangements. Other local bike shops might do the same. Harper's will be on hand to do quick bike checks before the ride. If you need them to look at your bike, please get there early. Our rides are pressure-free and worry-free. We make sure every rider is comfortable with the group's pace and that no section of trail is beyond the ability level of the group. E-bike are welcome. You don't have to be an advanced rider to volunteer; just be confident at the level you choose in a follow-up form. Riding Levels New Rider: I'm entirely new to mountain biking, or I've attempted a couple of rides but would love to receive a little coaching. You will get on the dirt, get comfortable with your bike, gear, and learn some basic mountain biking skills. Distances will be up to 7 miles. Expect to be out 2.0 hours. Beginner: I'm relatively new to mtb (still a beginner); I kinda like it and want to ride more! - Expect to be out 2 hrs. Beginner Plus: I'm comfortable on smooth green & blue trails. I want to improve my technical abilities on more challenging terrain. Expect to be out ~2+ hrs. Intermediate: I can ride my bike with no handlebars - This group will ride both at a faster pace. Expect to be out ~2-3 hrs. Volunteer: I'm a confident rider. I know the trails well, and I'd love to help out as a ride leader or sweep! There will be a separate form for you to list your volunteer preferences. You don't have to be an advanced rider to volunteer; just be confident at the level you choose in the volunteer form.
