SALEM, MA — Graduating seniors will get to enjoy all the pomp and circumstance of a ceremony on Salem Common, as well as likely an outdoor prom, to cap off an unprecedented high school experience for the class of 2021 amid the coronavirus health crisis this spring.
As part of a list of senior events released this week, the school said each senior will have two guests allowed for the outdoor graduation on June 4 at 6 p.m. The district said it is also pursuing plans for an outdoor prom on June 3 to help mitigate coronavirus concerns.
The Senior Awards Night will be held virtually on May 25.
Families and residents are also encouraged to order lawn and window signs to help celebrate this year's graduating class. There are three design options with each costing $25 plus tax.
A portion of each sign sold ($5) will be donated back to the senior class for Senior Week activities.
Direct donations can be made through emailing [email protected]
Sign orders can be made through emailing [email protected].
The deadline for ordering signs is May 14.
Seniors are also invited to a collective "signing day" for all colleges, training and certificate programs and military service commitments. Seniors can sign their respective "letter of intent" as part of a two-day ceremony May 17 and May 18.
The last day of school for seniors is May 21.
