BEVERLY, MA — A Beverly Farms couple will be honored this month for their contributions to the Joslin Diabetes Center and beyond. Carol Horvitz and her husband, Jeffrey, will be honored at the center's annual Taste of Ginger event to benefit Joslin's Asian-American Diabetes Initiative. Because of coronavirus restrictions, the event will be held virtually this year. Joslin credits Carol Horvitz with making "a remarkable impact on the world," including the establishment of a pro-bono legal practice for family, health and disability law cases and serving on Joslin's Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee. "It's humbling to be honored," Horvitz said. "We're very pleased and happy to be involved with this initiative." Carol Torvitz has been an overseer at Joslin since the 1990s when she received her law degree from Boston University's School of Law and Public Health. The couple moved to Beverly Farms in 1992 and still reside there. "From the moment she became involved Carol has played an active role both in the organization and in A Taste of Ginger," Joslin said.
