NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck Animal Control Officer Brittany Tooth came to the rescue of a raccoon last week that had gotten stuck with a piece of hardened plastic that encircled the little one's body.
The raccoon in a dumpster with the plastic around its body, but Tooth was able to coax it out of the dumpster using a stepladder that she borrowed from residents, according to a post on the Animal Control Division's Facebook page.
"The plastic appeared to be around this girl for quite some time due to the many bite marks in the plastic," officials wrote.
Tooth used a catch pole to safely remove the plastic, and the raccoon scurried into the woods after being rescued.
To help avoid such incidents in the future, officials urged residents to "cut up plastics before throwing them out."
