MILFORD, CT — Milford Superintendent of Schools Anna Cutaia announced that Milford students will be returning to the classroom for a full day on May 10. This means students will go from 5-hour instructional days to 6 hours and 40 minutes on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Students will remain on a 5-hour schedule on Wednesdays. Here is Cutaia's full letter: Dear Milford Public Schools Staff and Families, Our commitment throughout this pandemic crisis has been to continuously monitor five factors inmaking our decision on instructional models that consider in-person and remote learning. As a reminder, those five factors are: 1-health metrics, 2-social/emotional well-being of students and staff, 3-academic priorities, 4-resource availability, and 5-human resources. Based on a recent review of these five factors, and in consultation with the Milford Health Department, Milford Public Schools will be returning to full-time in-person learning starting Monday, May 10, 2021 (we will return to full-time hours M, T, Th and F with Wednesdays remaining a 5-hour day to allow teachers additional planning time for in-person and remote learners). As per the Governor's executive order, students will still have the option of remaining full-time remote learners. You will hear from your school principal with details on schedules. As we move from 5-hour days to 6 hours and 40 minutes, we will ensure there is more time spent on accelerated learning, as well as more opportunities for movement. You will also be provided with updated bus routes with pick/up drop off times next week. We have appreciated your constant understanding and support. It takes the efforts of a greater school community to ensure the well-being and success of our young people.
