Description

TEMECULA, CA — In an effort to ensure the region's youngest vehicle passengers are properly protected, officers from the California Highway Patrol Temecula Area office are holding a child safety seat event for the community. The free first-come, first-served event will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Buy Buy Baby, 40438 Winchester Road, Temecula. During the event, a CHP specially trained Safety Seat Technician will make sure participants' child safety seats are properly installed and will also teach proper installation. All children 8 years or younger must be properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, in the back seat of a vehicle. Children under the age of 2 must ride in a rear-facing, age-appropriate child safety seat in the back seat, the CHP said. An unrestrained child in a vehicle "is at significant risk of injury or death" in the event of a crash, the CHP said. "Protect your children by using age-appropriate passenger restraint devices. Your child's life depends on that car seat." Anyone with questions about Saturday's event can contact CHP Officer Mike Lassig at 951-506-2000.
