Description

A Two-Day Fine Art Portraiture Intensive Workshop Portrait photographer Jennifer Gershon has produced an absolutely stunning body of work. I am delighted to be hosting her for a masterclass where she will present her entire workflow to a very limited number of attendees. This will be an interactive, fun-filled session! Jennifer's approach is extremely casual, filled with experimenting, and focusing on seeing and shaping light. Pre-Workshop Photoshop Primer This workshop assumes some basic knowledge of Photoshop, including the use of layers and masks. Everyone is welcome, and if you do not have a strong foundation in Photoshop, Jennifer and Mark are available via Zoom to do a pre-workshop primer on basic Photoshop skills. Day 1: Saturday, June 12 - The Portrait Shoot We will have three learning stations set up for Day one of the workshop. Station 1: Shooting under the guidance of Jennifer Gershon, with a model. Small groups (1 or 2 people) will work directly with Jennifer to create portraits with our model. You will work on composition, lighting, posing, interacting and creating fun and exciting images with a model. Station 2: Lighting Modifiers & Godox light options with Mark Morris One or two people at a time will have an opportunity to see and try most of the various lights available from Godox, plus explore the quality of light created by a wide range of different modifiers. Station 3: Practice Time! Photographers will work together in pairs to try their hand at positioning and shaping light, and exploring the variety of looks that you can create with a 1-light setup. Day 2: Sunday, June 13 - Post Processing Intensive Day 2 is where you will dive into the inner workings of Photoshop. You will learn by doing! We recommend some background experience with photoshop. If you want to attend, but have no background with Photoshop, we can offer a pre-workshop "Intro to Photoshop" Topics that will be covered: Working with a Wacom (or similar) tabletColor Theory BasicsColor GradingMaskingDodging & BurningLuminosity MaskingChannel MaskingLiquify ToolZoom Follow-up with Jennifer Each attendee will also receive a 30-minute Zoom follow-up with Jennifer after the workshop, so you can get help if you have any stumbling blocks as you keep working on your photo to completion. Additional Zoom help will be available at an additional cost, if needed. This workshop is designed for folks who have some basic photography skills already covered. The editing portion of the workshop is designed for those with a basic undersetanding of Photoshop masking and adjustments. While all skill levels are welcomed, you will get the most out of the process if you have worked in Photoshop previously. Most importantly, though, is your desire to learn and acquire new skills! The whole process will be focused on creative energy, fun and exciting work. What is provided: A written outline to follow along and use for taking notesStudio Lighting (and help using it!)Remote Trigger to borrow (or help buying one before the workshop, if you would like)Wide range of lighting modifiersModelWardrobe & fun accessory optionsLunch each day, coffee, soda and teaFun!What you need to bring: A computer running a recent version of Photoshop. You may bring a full-size desktop machine and set it up if you wish. We can arrange a time on Saturday evening for you to bring that in, and get it set up for the Sunday post-processing workshop. An installed copy of Retouching Toolkit. (Attendees will receive a discount code for an additional 15% the toolkit which is currently already 30% off). While it isn't required, we recommend a Wacom tablet (or similar device). It would be helpful if you have a Godox (or Flashpoint) trigger, to bring your own.
