Description

Volunteer to prep and clean up our Bryant-Vermont Detroit Bird City park this spring! Join Detroit Audubon, Spread Art, and Woodbridge Neighborhood Development to clean up Bryant Vermont Park and the neighboring Spread Art building. We will be spreading woodchips on the new pathway, picking up trash (heavy lifters needed!), trimming back invasive brush, clearing the sidewalk paths, and planting some flowers around the Spread Art building. Please wear a mask and bring work gloves if you would like them. We will have some tools available, but we appreciate folks bringing tools if possible. Shovels and rakes will be most helpful. Small trowels, loppers, and other weeding tools would be good as well.  We will need one or two more wheelbarrows for moving mulch. If you are able to bring a wheelbarrow please let us know in the Eventbrite order form. We will have sanitizing products and extra masks available. We will have water and some snacks too :) Detroit Bird City is a program that Detroit Audubon’s Conservation Committee started in partnership with the City of Detroit, local community members, and others, to create intentional meadows that provide a beautiful community greenspace and habitat for birds and pollinators. Bryant Vermont park is a Detroit Bird City park located in the Woodbridge neighborhood of Detroit. The park is across the street from the Spread Art building. Spread Art and Woodbridge Neighborhood Development are essential community partners for Detroit Audubon's work at Bryant-Vermont Park. Spread Art serves as a creative incubator which provides space and opportunities for the Detroit community to collaborate, exhibit, experiment, experience, perform, practice and organize cultural activities such as art, dance, music and storytelling. Woodbridge Neighborhood Development is a nonprofit community improvement organization that addresses the housing and development needs of Woodbridge with a particular focus on the physical redevelopment of the neighborhood. A waiver for Covid 19 is included in the registration process and the following protocols will be in place in order to have a safe event for all involved: 1. Must register in advance, no touch check-in 2. Masks are required as social distancing is hard to maintain while birding 3. Social distancing of 3 feet will be maintained as well as possible 4. We ask that if you have been exposed to anyone with Covid 19 or are feeling unwell to please stay home 5. Please bring your own masks, hand sanitizer or sanitizing wipes ***After registering, you will receive Detroit Audubon's bi-monthly e-newsletter, Flyway Express. You may unsubscribe at any time. ***
