Job Title: St. Mary-on-the-Lake Housekeeper Reports To: St. Mary-on-the-Lake Facilities Manager General Purpose: The Housekeeper for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace is responsible for enhancing the welfare of its residents by keeping assigned areas clean and free of clutter. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Clean, stock, and supply assigned areas, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping. Carry out heavy cleaning tasks (floor waxing and buffing) and special projects as needed to keep St. Mary-on- the-Lake in a clean and orderly condition. Perform cleaning in medical environment such as soiled clothes, blood on sheets, or room of sister after death. Make beds and change linens. Sort, wash, load, and unload laundry. Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste. Notify Administrator of deficiencies or needs for repair. Stock and maintain supply rooms, filling out supply order request forms as needed. Cooperate with staff, sisters, and visitors. Follow all health and safety regulations. Properly dilute cleaners and chemicals. Able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Hours of operation are 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Follow the environmental values of SMOL in our cleaning. Other Non-Essential Duties: Training other staff. Minimum Requirements: Values: This position must be held by an individual who shares the values of peace and justice for the poor and who is committed to learning about, supporting, and respecting those in the vowed life of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. There is no other background that can substitute for this requirement. Education: No educational requirements for this position. Experience: At least one year of experience as a housekeeper or cleaner, including working experience with heavy equipment, is required. Other background that may substitute for this requirement is listed below. Or other background demonstrating application of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to safely operate a cleaning service equipment and tools; ability to communicate and comprehend English. Ability to clean in medical environment such as soiled clothes, blood on sheets, or room of sister after death. Ability to read and understand directions for the use of cleaning chemicals. Ability and willingness to respond to the occasional unexpected demands or shifts in schedule. Ability to work independently as well as on a team. A high level of integrity. Willingness to learn new cleaning methods and how to use various pieces of equipment. Willingness to look for cleaning needs outside of routine task list. Willingness to help other housekeepers if needed. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
