MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The fourth wave of the virus has seen case numbers surge across Montgomery County, as well as much of the nearby area. The county, along with most of the rest of the state, remains in the high community transmission "red zone" as determined by the White House Coronavirus Task Force. However, there are positive signs; recent metrics indicate that this trend may be reversing. Several numbers, including total number of cases and percent positivity rate, decreased in the county last week for the first time in weeks. That drop continued over the most recently tracked seven-day period, according to the Department of Health's Early Warning Monitoring System Dashboard. The positivity rate fell from 8.1 to 6.9 percent, while case numbers dropped in the county from 1,348 to 1,106.
