WASHINGTON, DC — Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick of Bucks County joined Virginia Democrat Gerald E. Connolly Monday in introducing a resolution to dedicate this week as Public Service Recognition Week. The week honors public servants for their contributions and dedication, highlighting the work first-responders, frontline workers and civil servants across all branches of government have done during the pandemic. Actually, the congressmen were two of many politicians who issued proclamations about Public Service Recognition Week. The week has been around since 1985 and is sponsored by the Partnership for Public Service. Though Fitzpatrick and Connolly made clear how critical public servants have been during the last year. Fitzpatrick and Connolly's resolution stated: "Committed public servants at the federal, state and local levels, and service members across the world, carry out the complex and vital business of operating and protecting our nation every day. Over the past year, these men and women have provided critical services and assistance to our constituents during an unprecedented global health pandemic." The resolution continued: "We relied on them to distribute necessary economic aid to businesses and individuals struggling under the strain of that crisis. Others, despite great risk to their own lives, courageously continued to serve as first-responders, provide healthcare to veterans, deliver mail, inspect meat and poultry facilities, provide sanitation services, research cures for COVID-19 and deliver vaccines. These hardworking heroes live and serve in every community across America, and they deserve our gratitude for their service and sacrifice. "When our nation faces big challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, it becomes even more imperative that we recognize and celebrate the critical work of our nation's civil servants at all levels and across all branches of government." Max Stier, president and CEO of Partnership for Public Service, said public servants play a vital role in our society. "This Public Service Recognition Week, let's pause to say thank you to all the public servants who work tirelessly - often at their own personal risk - to better their communities and our country." I am proud to join @GerryConnolly in introducing a resolution to dedicate May 2nd through 8th, 2021 as Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW). https://t.co/uSYLvvEIav— Rep.
