Description
Again on the subject of the Orcas. The southern resident Orcas are too a predator of Northwestern salmon. It is true that whales must rely on the food sources available to them. Perhaps the seal and sea lion have an advantage on land that those living on the floating ice do not have. The orcas may not be able to get to them. There is another possibility although remote. Perhaps native hunters killed the Orcas that took down men from their canoes. The Orcas decided salmon was a safer food. At any rate, it would be to the advantage of Native man-tribes to trap and transport seal and sea lion to the Orcas if they wish to preserve their percentage of harvestable salmon. The Native man consider salmon to be theirs, but they too must share the salmon with other predators. Thanks, Bill.
