City of Bellingham causing more homeless problems

Bellingham WA

Description

I have been sending E-mail to the County council and City council for many years over the homeless issue. It is the goal of the city to integrate homeless people into the community. There is however a problem. Nearly all homeless people have severe addiction problems. When they are housed next to families, they bring their addiction issues with them. Young people think they can become involved with drugs without becoming addicts. Many addicts also sell drugs. They influence young people with their friendship and introduce them to the drugs they sell. The city of Bellingham does not understand that it is NOT SAFE to house drug addicts next to families. Addicts need to be kept separated from the general public until their addiction problems are curtailed. The city shelters homeless addicts in several places throughout the city. During the day, the addicts roam around selling drugs to youngsters. This will lead to the DESTRUCTION of the city. I have suggested that a special RV park be constructed on Recreational property next to Lake Padden, on city owned property, with a drug rehab center next door. The city will not do that. Instead they chase the homeless off city parks and threaten them with trespass charges. These people have no freedom. The city would cage them if they could. Time for the city to give a little consideration not only to the homeless, but to the families that are effected by them. thanks, Bill
