LA GRANGE, IL — For the third week in a row, La Grange saw a drop in the percentage increase in coronavirus cases, according to the Cook County Health Department. As of Sunday, La Grange, including La Grange Highlands, had seen 2,165 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 33 from a week before, or a 1.5 percent increase. That was slightly down from the previous week's 1.6 percent hike. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the local number of recorded coronavirus-related deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 31. The latest death was Feb 13. All the local deaths have been those who were 61 or older, according to the medical examiner. The mortality rate among La Grange cases is 1.4 percent. About a tenth of 1 percent of the local population has died from the virus.
