Need help with fixing car roof

Can anyone help? I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty limited that has a sky slider roof that is known for water leaking through it when it rains. I bought this car in March and noticed that it was sealed. It unexpectedly flew open when I was driving recently and I need help with fixing it. I saw a forum where someone said they were going to take theirs off and add plexiglass to it. If anyone would know how to do that, that would be great! I am currently using tape to leave it sealed down but after awhile it will start to come off so I end up needing to put more.
