NORTH FORK, NY —A Greenport woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday night after she crashed into a PSEG Long Island pole, causing some residents to lose power, police said. According to Southold Town Police, Karla Rivas, 20, of Greenport East, was arrested at 8:21 p.m. on Westphalia Road in Mattituck and charged with DWI, first offense, and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, police said. Rivas was driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra south on Westphalia Road when she hit the pole — and drove away from the scene until her vehicle broke down, police said. Rivas was found to be intoxicated, arrested, and taken to Southold Town Police headquarters for processing; she was held for morning arraignment, police said.
