BIRMINGHAM, AL — A Hoover man was shot and killed in Birmingham early Sunday morning. Eric Tyler Sledge Jr., 27, died just before 1 a.m. after being shot in the 1100 block of 20th Street South. Sledge was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital. "The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was walking with a group of individuals who had just been involved in a physical altercation in the area when an unknownsuspect fired shots at the victim ultimately striking him," Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said.
