Storage Facility General Laborer - Des Moines Properties- Squirrel Storage Hourly 30+ hours/week (Hours can fluctuate depending on season) Typical hours M-F 7 a.m-5 p.m. (Exact schedule is flexible) Pay Rate: $16.50/hr. (Plus mileage reimbursement) Benefits: Heath, Dental, Vision, Life, Matching 401k, Paid Time Off. Squirrel Storage is currently seeking a General Laborer for five self-storage facilities in the Des Moines Metro area.  This position would work in conjunction with the Property Manager to ensure that each property is maintained properly, projects are conducted correctly and that customers are taken care of in a professional and courteous manner.  The candidate must be capable of working independently to complete tasks, while also being able to coordinate with and report to the Property Manager regarding moveouts, delinquencies, and status of projects. This could potentially involve meeting contractors, suppliers, and customers on site at different times that may not be during office hours.  Some of the tasks include, but not limited to: · Updating occupancy changes in management system · Conducting move out checks, thoroughly cleaning units for our next customer · Basic maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, furnace filters, sweeping, cleaning, trash removal etc. · Groundwork maintenance such as weed eating, spraying, basic repairs. · Conducting and maintaining record of tasks being done via weekly and monthly audit · Overseeing work of various contractors and suppliers, assisting them with access and requests needed to complete projects. Requirements: · Hardworking professional of good moral integrity, honest, trustworthy and possesses the ability to identify problems and communicate effectively. · Reliable Transportation, valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance. · Ability to perform physical work such as lifting, bending, kneeling, shoveling, sweeping, climbing etc. · Must be mechanically literate.  Ability to effectively use basic tools such as: wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, ladders etc., as well as power tools such as: power drills, grinders, weed eaters etc. · Have the ability to operate a business related application via phone or tablet. This position will require traveling to 5 locations in the Des Moines Area and will require a reliable vehicle capable of transporting light maintenance tools.
