Do you have social anxiety?
Would you like to participate in a study of a novel treatment?
You may be eligible to participate in a research study of a computer-based treatment for social
anxiety disorder. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:
People between the ages of 18 and 60 suffering from social anxiety disorder and who are able to
travel to the New York State Psychiatric Institute (1051 Riverside Drive) in Manhattan
COMPENSATION FOR PARTICIPATION:
$300 paid for completion of 12 visits
PROCEDURES:
l) Screening by phone (time estimate: 25 minutes)
2) If eligible, an in-person psychiatric evaluation, clinical assessment, and standard health
assessment, two computer games (time estimate: 3 hours)
3) If eligible, 8 research treatment visits to our clinic over a 4-week period. Two visits include an
MRI scan and take 2 hours, interim visits are each 30 minutes)
4) 30-minute follow-up visits at one and three months later.
This is not a part-time job. Compensation is being provided for participation in a research study.
