The Clubs at St. James n Southport, NC is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of full-time Landscaping Foreman. General Purpose: Directs and participates in the construction and maintenance of the grounds; and performs related tasks as required. Designs landscape plans for facility grounds and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of that plan. Essential Duties: • Oversees the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees on the facility grounds including pruning, trimming, root feeding and pest control. • Directs and assists the staff on the planting of new vegetation, the replacement and spraying of trees and shrubs, and tending to high stress areas especially during the summer months. • Develops detailed annual plans for the seasonal rotation of plants, flowers, etc., in the facility’s various landscaped areas and flowerbeds resulting in fresh, eye-catching and pleasant flower and plant displays. • Stays attuned with current fertilizer and pesticide application. Participates in the application of fertilizers and pesticides • Oversees the preparation of soil plant beds, established by seed or transplants, and maintains annual perennial flowers in aesthetically pleasing arrangements. • Oversees the operation of mechanical and power equipment utilized in the maintenance of ornamental plants and trees. • Coordinates snow removal (where applicable). • Assists the Manager in interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. • Assists in the management of department members that may include, but is not limited to: Landscapers, Foreman. • Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Assists in developing ongoing training programs. • Assists in monitoring business volume forecast and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses. • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. • Regular and reliable attendance. • Performs other duties as required. Education/Experience: • Associate’s degree (AA); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Valid Driver’s License, Pesticide Application License Other qualifications: • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job
