Solid Sports Camp is for youth looking to have all the fun and none of the stress while playing their favorite sports. At Solid Sports Camp (SOLID), FUN is the focus. In today’s culture, specialization and machine-like sports programming for youth has become the norm. SOLID is a place where children can participate in multiple sports and games within a supportive environment that promotes kindness and character. SOLID campers will have the time of their lives playing sports without expectations. SOLID offers a variety of sports and games from basketball to kickball to water balloon fights - even some that you have never heard of!Solid Sports Camp promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, opportunity, community, and FUN! SOLID is a training ground for joyful competition; by attending SOLID, youth will experience the fun of traditional and non-traditional games in an encouraging environment. FAQs What is the refund policy? We will gladly refund the full amount up to 10 days prior to the event less a $50 planning fee. Eventbrite fees cannot be refunded. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions? Feel free to contact us anytime via email: [email protected] Do I have to bring my printed ticket to camp? Once you register, your camper’s name will be added to the list. You can also show our check-in crew your confirmation email from your cell phone. What are the qualifications of the counselors? Our summer counselors are hand-picked by the Solid Sports Camp Executive Team. Solid Camp Counselors are high school seniors and college student who have participated in school sports. Each counselor is background checked, has a CPR certification and has passed the Solid Sports Camp training and onboarding process. Counselors participate in an interview process utilizing a behavioral based interview. We also vet each counselor through their social profiles and references. Are there counselors with the campers at all times? Yes, there are. There is a 10:1 ratio, once camp counselor is assigned to a group of ten campers. Each activity occurs with at least 2-3 groups in one location. In addition to camp counselors (high school seniors, college students, teachers/coaches), we recruit jr. camp counselors (grades 8th, 9th, 10th) to assist camp counselors with activities. Will there be activities involving swimming? For the 2021 Summer Camp Sessions there will not be any activities involving swimming. However, there may be water activities (water balloons, sprinklers, slip and slide.) Parents will be informed well in advanced to plan for extra clothing. My camper wants to be in a group with their friend, is this possible? To make the most of camp and to meet new friends, Solid Sports Camp will create the groups based on registered numbers, therefore at this time, we cannot guarantee that friends/siblings will be placed in the same group/team. No need to worry! Campers will each other every day and nearly all the time! How many campers are in each group/team? A typical group/team will have up to ten campers. The group is managed by a counselor and may have a jr. counselor. What is the mask policy at camp? Solid Sports Camp will follow the mandates from the CDC and the Virginia Department of Health. At this time, campers can participate in camp activities that are happening outside without wearing a mask. All indoors activities (which will not be strenuous) will require a mask. Parents who have registered a camper will receive updates on the mask policy as mandates change. Does Solid Sports Camp provide travel arrangements for campers? Solid Sports Camp does not transport campers. All events will be held at the LETA. Parents/guardians will drop off and pick up campers from LETA each day. Is there any medical personnel on staff at camp? Solid Sports Camp is being held at the Law Enforcement Training Academy in Virginia Beach. While they are not participating in the camp, we have access to medical personnel should the need arise. We have a state of the art first aid kit, and we are less than 15 minutes away from Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
