Join us for volunteering outdoors in our garden. Tasks include planting, cleaning, trimming, watering and painting. For ages 6-12. DESCRIPTION Join Concrete Safaris for our Youth Drop In Sessions to spruce up our gardens! We will be doing a variety of garden activities that consist of cleaning raised beds, planting herbs, vegetables, fruits, and flowers, spreading mulch, picking up trash, weeding, and more. Dress in layers if it is cold out and bring a water bottle. Activities vary. This session is for youth ages 6-12. Parents must drop off and pick up their children or can sit and observe nearby! WHEN: Monday, May 17, 2021, 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm WHERE: Meet at 300 East 115th Street just east of Second Avenue outside of the Jefferson Houses Management Office. If you arrive after the start time for this event and do not see anyone, meet us in the gardens around the basketball courts just south of this office between First and Second Avenues and 115th and 113th Streets. These gardens cannot be seen from the meeting point. Jefferson Gardens, 300 East 115th Street, New York, NY 10029 WHAT: Volunteers will help with garden maintenance activities at Jefferson Gardens such as spreading woodchips, shoveling compost, removing weeds, raking, trash removal, and more. BRING WITH YOU: Please wear comfortable clothes, proper footwear, preferably work boots or sturdy sneakers, and bring a reusable water bottle. Food will not be provided, so bring a snack!
