Diamond ND Rough has received local funding to promote entrepreneurship in the heart of North Carolina. The NC IDEA state funding entity has awarded Diamond ND Rough to train and assists North Carolinians in efforts to build self sufficient businesses in the field of upholstery. Diamond ND Rough has become a very successful minority owned small business in the heart of downtown Wake Forest, and now on the waterfront of Washington, NC. Diamond ND Rough specializes in custom upholstery, furniture repair and refinishing. Due to growing success, Diamond ND Rough is now embarking on an apprenticeship search. Free upholstery training and business promotion will be provided to three (3) candidates. Candidates will be guided through the manufacturing of a prototype process and full execution of their own upholstery brand/business. Candidates are asked to come prepared to deliver a small 5 minute pitch explaining the following: Your need to be sponsored by Diamond ND Rough's Free Apprenticeship program Your vision for the business you wish to develop or the skills you seek to possess Any steps you have already taken to achieve your vision Note: The opportunity to participate in upholstery training or the business education sessions only will be made available to those who do not wish to pitch for the free sponsorship opportunity. A full introduction to the program will be provided, upon completion of each course certificates of completion will be provided to participants. The following crafting courses will be offered: Furniture Stripping Product Preparation for Re-upholstery Fabric Cutting Principles and Fundamentals of Sewing Application of Re-upholstered Material on Furniture Frame The following business workshops will be offered: Registering a Business in NC Developing a Business Plan Determining Business/Working location and Target Client Demographics For more details on the course content please contact Oliver and Betty Stevenson at 919-909-6809
