BLAIRSVILLE, GA —Two people were killed in a house explosion near Blairsville, Georgia, Sunday morning as people reported hearing the blast from several miles away. Union County officials and the Georgia State Fire Marshall's Office confirmed the explosion, heard by many in the area near where the explosion occurred on Pauline Lane around 8 a.m., killed two people, WXIA and others have reported. Photos from neighbors shared with WXIA show debris abound and fire raging in the moments after the explosion. Officials have not identified the fatal victims. The blast could be heard 25 miles away, WCRB and Fox-5-Atlanta also reported. A report from WYFF in Greenville, South Carolina, said the explosion could be heard there as well. With the Tennessee and North Carolina borders also nearby, it's likely the explosion could be heard in four states. The home that exploded is a total loss, according to the reports, as some nearby homes sustained damage as well. Reports of any other injuries from the blast haven't been made. Authorities also haven't said what they believe caused the explosion.
