Driver - Long Haul - Three Days Per Month

START RESCUE, a 501c3 Charitable Foundation is looking for qualified and EXPERIENCED long haul drivers (PAID OPPORTUNITY). For example, a retired or semi retired class-A driver would be a great fit for this unique driving position. Current class-A not required, but clean driving record is a MUST*** The job: TWO DRIVERS Drive a van from Portland, OR to the L.A. area (sleep in a hotel) then meet rescuers at an assigned location, where animals will be loaded into the van's crates. Drivers will then make the return trip "non-stop," with the animals on board, ensuring they have water and food and remain safe and calm in the climate-controlled van. Your job is to deliver the animals alive and well and to communicate with the team and take photos along the way. Animals can be loud. Animals can be dirty. Animals are coming from bad situations where they would have likely died had we not intervened. We typically aim for a ONCE A MONTH trip, with opportunities for shorter trips as well if desired (from Portland to Tacoma or Spokane). There are several drivers needed including back-up drivers. The schedule is not flexible once a transport date is determined each month. This is a team driver position. There are TWO drivers for long hauls at all times. Must like animals, must have the passion of wanting to save lives! Must be dedicated and serious. • We offer generous pay. • Separate stipend for food per day. • Lovely accommodations in California. • Must have Commerical driving and long-haul experience. • Must have clean driver's record. WE DO CHECK BEFORE HIRING. • Must know how to text and email and willing to COMMUNICATE with the team. • Must be insurable. • Require references. • Must be personable as you are representing START to our Rescue Partners up North. • Some handling animals required. • Must be able to take photos of the transport using a simple point and click camera or your smart phone. • Must understand maintenance, GPS, and be text savvy and responsive. • Must be a team player and be able to follow instructions. • Brief note on why you think you make a good candidate. • Must pass background check. • Must pass drug test.
