Description
AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation will close the Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge at I-35 in Jarrell this week.
The bridge will close to traffic at 8 a.m. Monday as crews prepare for the demolition and reconstruction of the existing bridge, officials said Thursday.
TxDOT is replacing the existing Ronald Reagan Boulevard bridge with new eastbound and westbound bridges.
In June, crews will open the newly constructed eastbound bridge to allow two-way traffic over I-35 during construction of the westbound bridge.
In the meantime, drivers wishing to access westbound Ronald Reagan from northbound I-35 will have to exit Bud Stockton Loop (274), and U-turn at the intersection to the southbound frontage road.
For southbound I-35 traffic, those who are heading to eastbound County Road 311 will use exit 270 and U-turn at the County Road 143 intersection to proceed northbound on the frontage road.
Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures, officials said.
TxDOT asks the public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone. To learn more about the I-35 at Ronald Reagan Boulevard project, visit My35Construction.org.
