Description
I am into the cultivation of different species of giant timber bamboo. The first place I ever saw any was a big patch in the front flowerbed of a home (seems I recall it being Craftsman style or period), right on the north side of the main drag of Manteca--Yosemite Ave., I presume--before the bypass was built. Because all the traffic coming through Tracy on the way to the Sierras passed through there, all kinds of people knew about the timber bamboo patch, as it was very unique in the area and served as a landmark. I am pretty sure it was still there in the '80s, but I've stayed away from Manteca and the surrounding area since it was colonized by the silicon crowd. Looking at Google Street View, I am not even sure the house is still there, though it was a nice one. Can anybody tell me if this patch of bamboo is still there?
