LA GRANGE PARK, IL — Two men have been arrested in connection with an incident at a burial at Parkholm Cemetery in La Grange Park, according to a police news release.
Mahmoud Yassin, 28, of Tinley Park, was arrested mid-afternoon Thursday at the cemetery after being identified as the one who discharged multiple rounds from a 9mm handgun during the burial, according to the release.
He was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct.
Taji Gaines, 19, of Oak Lawn, was arrested after it was discovered he was concealing a gun while attending the burial, police said. He was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, reckless conduct and disorderly conduct.
The men will be taken to Cook County Court on Saturday for a bond hearing, police said.
In 2017, Yassin was charged in connection with a shooting at Uncle Sam's Gyros in Burbank. An official said at the time that Yassin was a known gang member.
