Press release from Kent City School District: Jim Soyars May 1, 2021 Kent City Schools Learning Recovery & Extended Learning Plan April 2021 Dear parents and community members: Returning to in-person learning four days per week After Spring Break, about two-thirds of our Kent students will return to in-person learning four days per week. On Tuesday, April 6, the K-12 students, who have been attending school two days a week will now attend four days a week—from Tuesday through Friday. This group, called Cohort A and B, makes up about 2,000 of Kent's approximately 3,000 students. Those students in Cohort C, whose families chose 100 percent remote learning, will continue in 100 percent remote learning for the rest of this school year. Mondays will be used for state assessments and teacher follow-up on students from all cohorts. Preschool will continue with its current schedule. Masks will be required with frequent sanitizing, hand washing and social distancing. Teachers, staff receive second vaccinations More than 510 teachers and staff members received their second COVID vaccines on March 22. A vaccination clinic staffed by a collaborative effort between members of the Kent City Health Department, Kent Fire Department, Kent City Schools Administration/Board Office staff and Portage County Health District took place at Stanton Middle School.
