Scope of Position/Essential Functions: The facilities technician is responsible for the janitorial work at the Colorado Springs Corps facilities and for ground maintenance to include mowing, trimming, bush plant and flower maintenance. Education and Work Experience: High School diploma or equivalent and at least one-year experience in cleaning and grounds maintenance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required: • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Knowledge of janitorial practices and procedures including sanitation and floor care and maintenance • Ability to operate ground maintenance power equipment • Ability to read, write and follow written instructions • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations • Must possess a valid Driver License with a god driving record • Ability to work with limited or no supervision • Ability to multi-task and set priorities • Must be a team player • This position involves occasional strenuous labor so good physical condition is required Software-related skills: N/A Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Janitorial/Maintenance – Exterior • Monthly parking lot sweeping/blowing, or more often as needed • Secure doors for all programs • Sidewalk sweeping or blowing • Sidewalk pressure washing as needed • Examination of grounds for regular maintenance • Shoveling snow as needed • Other duties as Responsible for keeping grass mowed • Pick up litter and debris • Other duties as assigned Janitorial/Maintenance – Interior • Dust mopping of all floors • Wet mopping of all floors • Thorough cleaning of all restrooms • Cleaning of dining room • Empty all garbage cans • Vacuum all carpeted floors • Wash windows as needed • Wash counters • Vacuum all floor mats at doorways • Wall cleaning • Change burnt out lights when needed • Shampoo carpets • Strip and wax floors where needed • Maintain inventory of necessary supplies • Work with and supervise volunteers • Room set up and take down for events and community meetings • Restock paper products in restrooms • Other duties as assigned
