Description

My name is Mu (“myoo”), and I’m a sweet female 10.5 pound cat who loves to be firmly pet and brushed. I am always down to chase laser pointers and shoelaces, and I love to explore the limitless, infinite variety of cardboard boxes. I’m a quiet, peaceful cat who brings order and harmony to a home, although I love to have conversations with you when I’m hungry: when you ask, “Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?” and I know it’s time to eat, I will answer with an affirmative “meow” every single time. I’m not a huge fan of being held, but once in a while I might even sleep on your lap. Even though I'm a Reno cat now, I originally met my owner one day in PA when he was walking his kids home from a bus stop. I followed him home. He pet me and then put me back where he found me. I followed him again. He reluctantly took me in, and I'm so glad he did as it has been a wonderful 6 years of being pampered with Fancy Feast, being brushed, and sleeping on beds and couches. I like it a lot more than sleeping outside on the dirt, and eating bugs and trying not to get hit by cars. The vet estimated my age to be 2 years back in October 2014, so that would make me 8, going on 9. At my current home, I have to deal with three dogs, one of which is just nuts. I'm fine with dogs, but one of the dogs isn't fine with me. He’s a creepy stalker ***hole, and no matter how much his owners discipline him, he just does not care – he loves to chase me every time I cross an area to get to my litter box. His obsession with me is literally bred into his genes. I’m in a fairly new home (been here 2 years), and unfortunately there’s no good alternate place to put the litter box (or to have a second litter box). The only reasonable place is in the upstairs laundry room where the dogs aren’t allowed. A few months ago, someone in the house closed the laundry room door one night, not thinking about the fact that my litter box is in there. This forced me to find a different place to pee. Because of that event, I’ve peed a few times here and there (like once every 3 or 4 weeks). My owner talked to the Humane Society about my situation in great detail, and despite the fact that my owner is a lifelong cat lover and cat whisperer and we love each other a lot, everyone agreed that my peeing behavior will very likely go back to normal when I’m in a home without this stupid creepy dog who loves to constantly harass me. If my litter box is easily accessible and I don’t have to deal with any crazy, creepy dogs, I will be just fine, because I’m a good cat. I am really good at just casually ignoring dogs, but no cat would be comfortable with this dog. There just isn’t any way to fix my current environment other than to change it, and this is the one thing my current owner is powerless to do himself. ☹ Consider this: despite having to cross over this dog’s “territory” to get to my litter box, for 18 months I did so. Only when I was physically prevented from accessing my box did I even consider peeing on carpet. Please don't lump me together with those other cats who really have behaviorial peeing problems. I'm not like them. I promise I am a good cat. Please consider adopting me right away. On May 14 my owner will be surrendering me to the Humane Society so they can re-home me. We would both much prefer for me not to have to stay at the Humane Society while they find a new owner, and we both REALLY want my owner to be able to talk directly to the new owner – you will get to learn so much more about me that way! Again I’m a sweet cat – you’ll see! Sincerely, Mu
