An NBA 2k21 Tournament put together by Cheverly Gives Back in collaboration with YMCA Calomiris to commemorate the life of Miles Ward. This tournament is a collaboration between Cheverly Gives Back group and the YMCA Calomiris. There will be simultaneous games played on multiple televisions. There are two buildings at the site where players will be separated by age. Doors will be open for COVID-19 protocol to allow participants to enter & exit as they please. Cheverly Gives Back will present the Ward family with a gift of appreciation and love to celebrate the life of Miles. Security will be present. This is a family event and we are asking all to come in positivity in the name of Miles prepared to have fun. This is a no-nonsense event, with great appreciation for the YMCA for hosting. Anyone not adhering to protocol will be asked to leave. Ticket’s purchases on Eventbrite will be good for both days. Participants can bring their own controllers, but we ask you bring a USB cord to connect to systems easily. Please come in peace and ready to adhere to COVID regulations. There are two brackets for the tournament. 14 & Under: Double-Elimination tournament will take place over two days, with fair bracketing based on experience. All participants will receive a catered lunch & a goodie bag with free prizes. Winner will receive a free video game for the system of their choice and another prize to be announced. 15 & Up: Single-Elimination tournament will take place over two days, with fair bracketing based on experience. All participants will receive a catered lunch & a goodie bag with free prizes. Winner will have the option to choose between a gift card sponsored by Cheverly Gives Back or a video game for their system of choice. A live DJ will be on the premises for both days spinning edited, appropriate music. Outside of the building, there is a field that will be decorated with games and volunteers to help parents monitor children. This is the first event of several planned for the summer of 2021. Proceeds for the event will be split. Majority of proceeds will go to the Ward family to help with supporting his son, Nasir. The remaining proceeds will be used for Cheverly Gives Back II, a free celebration and back-to-school event that will take place in Cheverly at the end of this summer.
