The big question that still looms large in the creative life: how to combine improvising and composing into one breath every day and in every instant, while avoiding the many pitfalls and traps (aesthetic, personal, and philosophical). In the context of jazz and related music, during this time period, two or three collaborators are enough to revel in the asking. Through tunes old and new, written by themselves and others, the trio of Jason Roebke, Tomeka Reid and Keefe Jackson will present their version of the music of changes, of stillness, and of living east-west-north-south. These long-term collaborators have plenty of common past, present, and future to draw on while undertaking this journey, which goes on despite the weather.
