Artist Bio:
Jefferson Hart and daughter Ella Brown Hart are 2/3 of family rock and roots combo Secret Monkey Weekend. For this special show, they are billing themselves Secret Monkey Duo for the first time!
Expecting their first record this summer, a 4-song EP vinyl (Zub Records), Secret Monkey Weekend is a family rock trio from Durham NC. Jefferson Hart, with daughters Lila (12) and Ella (17) have been playing NC clubs, festivals and parties since 2016. They completed their first UK tour in late 2018.
They bring a strong roots rock, R&B, power pop and classic rock guitar based sound built around the lead vocals of guitarist Papa Jefferson and daughter Lila (drums) and the bass guitar and harmonies of daughter Ella. The occasionally have a supporting keyboardist Peter Holsapple (dB's co-founder, Hootie & The Blowfish and REM) or longtime NC music veterans Scott DeMattos and Tim Smith.
Jefferson Hart has a long history in the NC rock scene going back to the mid 1980s. He brings this long legacy of North Carolina live performance and songwriting into something completely new and fresh with his daughters as demonstrated by several new original songs (co-written by the daughters) in their current set list.
