WESTBOROUGH, MA — All Massachusetts residents over age 16 have been eligible for the vaccine for over a week, and this week's state vaccine data provides a look into the beginning of that rollout.
More than 430 Westborough residents under the age of 30 have received at least the first dose since eligibility expanded. Eighty percent of Westborough's oldest residents — people over the age of 75 — have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the state's data. Just over three-quarters of residents ages 65 to 74 — the second oldest age group — are fully vaccinated.
Nearly 40 percent of Westborough residents as a whole are fully vaccinated, up from 32 percent last week. Twenty-eight percent of the town's residents have received just the first dose.
Roughly 2.48 million people have been fully vaccinated in Massachusetts, the state reported Thursday.
Westborough reported 48 cases of coronavirus in the two weeks leading up April 24 according to the state report released Thursday, placing it in the "yellow" zone.
