Toby is a 6 year old, 68 lbs Ridgeback/ Boxer mix. He has been with a single family since they found him at 6 months old. He loves to give kisses with his sandpaper tongue and can be shy about playing with you but you'll be pleasantly surprised when you're suddenly being poked with a plush toy by this guy! Toby loves going on hikes and walks but they shouldn't be more than medium endurance as he has bilateral bone disease in his front elbows, it doesn't cause him many problems other than on cold damp nights and after a good hike. A remadyl a day keeps his elbow pain away! This guy has amazing on leash manners, no matter how fast or how slow (this boy can walk at a crawl if you ask him to) he'll stay right at your side! He does great off leash as well but occasionally a jack rabbit or bird is a little too tempting to resist. Toby does have a slight penchant for being a gassy guy and will occasionally let some rip that will make you question the other person in the room what they had for dinner last night! He would do best as an only dog since he does have a shorter temper and enjoys his down time (especially if PBS for kids is on) Toby was raised around pigs, chickens, domestic birds, goats, horses, cats and dogs; however, he doesn't like the constant companionship of dogs and would prefer to only have play dates with dogs he's made a good relationship with. All other animals are 100% fair game and definitely his friends and pack to protect! This big guy has some redirection issues he's working through. If there's something walking past his fence and he has another dog in the yard with him, he will redirection his anger or excitement towards that dog. Toby loves people and will always vibe off of you, whether you're having a good day or bad he will do whatever he can to be right there with you! At least until 7pm when he declares it to be bedtime! We hate to see him go, but he is very unhappy in our pack, and we cannot change the other animals we have simply to accommodate his increasing dislike for their company. If you would like to meet this big goof we would love to do a home visit with you! We will require two home visits and a sleep over before finalizing Toby's rehoming. We want to make sure you will love him as much as he will love you! He will have a $50.00 rehoming fee, he is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all of his vaccines Please contact Mandy if you have any questions.
