Description

Waiting list for another class to be held in October or December, 2021. Prescribed fire is defined as fire applied in a knowledgeable manner to forest fuels on a specific land area under selected weather conditions to accomplish predetermined, well-defined management objectives. Georgia Forestry Commission instructors will provide instruction on subjects such as fire behavior, fire weather, air quality, smoke management and fire tactics. Course includes self-study of materials provided by mail prior to the program, a two-day training session and a written state exam. Applicants for certification must pass this exam with a score of 70 or higher, have two years of experience and meet a prerequisite of having been the person in charge of five prescribed burns before becoming a certified prescribed burner in Georgia. 11.5 hours of CFE’s will be awarded for those registered foresters needing continuing education credits.   Location: 6000 building Days: Tuesday and Wednesday Time: 8a.m-5p.m 2 day class Special Course Procedures: TCSG and its colleges will continue to follow COVID-19 guidance from the Georgia Department of Health (DPH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including maintaining a social distance in classroom . When social distancing cannot be maintained either in a classroom setting or lab, instructors and students should wear masks. Outside of the classroom or lab environment, wearing masks is strongly encouraged, in conformity with the guidance issued by DPH and CDC. Covid-19 waiver will be issued before class.
