WAUWATOSA, WI – Wauwatosa high school students recently placed fourth at the national We The People competition – the highest placement for a team from Wauwatosa in the history of the school district.
Students in American Public Policy Special Emphasis (APPSE) classes at Wauwatosa East and West High Schools competed in the virtual competition last weekend. On Sunday, the Wauwatosa West team was named as one of the top 12 teams to compete for the National Championship.
On Tuesday, Wauwatosa West was named the fourth place finisher out of 48 school teams. The Wauwatosa East team also earned a Divisional Award for its performance.
The competition is a national academic competition that gives students an opportunity to display their civic knowledge and skills. Students in the APPSE class take an in-depth looks at government structure, rights, court cases and current events.
