Description
I just spent the morning with Arty, a 6 year old Catahoula/Lab Mix.
He is a great dog. (I call him Freckles)
Everyone we met, said two things: "He has the most beautiful Yellow Eyes" and "What happened to his head?" It turns out the speckles on his head are just his Catahoula side coming out.
Arty might just be the perfect Apartment dog. He is very laid back and calm in all situations. He walks exceptionally well. He matches your speed and does not pull. He is happy to be your companion but doesn't demand all your attention. He seems to prefer inside more than outside.
Arty is a little older (6) but is in no way old. He is past his annoying puppy stage and that is a good thing. He will most likely flourish with only one or two walks a day.
Arty had a bad experience with a Chihuahua which resulted in the little dog having to go for emergency surgery. For this reason your family can't have small children (under 12), or small animals. If you have another dog, Arty needs to meet them before he goes home with you.
Arty is at the Maricopa County Animal Shelter. There is a small adoption fee, but it includes all his shots, his neuter surgery, a microchip and a year of registration. (there may be an adoption special, so make sure to check their website)
You can cut and paste this link to read his medical & social history.

Before you go down there, you do need to make an appointment. It's easy though, just cut and paste this link:

I am just a volunteer, so anything I say is superseded by Maricopa County Care & Control.
Also, I only had Freckles/Arty for a few hours and even though I believe everything I have stated, I can't promise you that is the way he will be.
